The Dr. Walrod Memorial Tree Fund was created by Janice Walrod, a charter member of the Community Foundation, who wanted to memorialize her husband by providing beauty to the town of North Manchester. In 1982, she started the Wolrod Tree Endowment to provide funds for the purchase and planting of trees. The trees that line the streets of North Manchester are a visual reminder of philanthropy as residents and visitors alike enjoy the blooms, color, and shade provided through this ongoing program.
*Fun Fact: The Dr. Walrod Memorial Tree Fund was the Community Foundation's first endowment.
