a. Your clients can give to the Community Foundation in a variety of ways. A gift can be planned or current. A gift can be to the creation of or to an existing endowment or nonpermanent fund. Gifts can be funded with cash, appreciated securities, real estate, or life insurance policies, and can also be made through charitable remainder or lead trusts, charitable gift annuities, bequests in a will, or through your clients’ individual retirement accounts.

a. Community Foundation funds are invested and professionally managed by Jbara and Rogers Financial Management Group - Morgan Stanley. Investments are reviewed quarterly by the Foundation’s Investment Committee to ensure Foundation objectives are properly met.

a. Creating a donor-advised fund through the Community Foundation is a convenient and flexible way of giving. Donors who establish a donor-advised fund will receive an immediate charitable tax deduction for their gift and will be

able to make grant recommendations over their lifetime. Furthermore, donor-advised funds can help your clients involve their families in their charitable giving. While donor-advised funds cannot be funded with a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) directly from an IRA, donor-advised funds can be funded with cash or appreciated assets, which can help your clients avoid capital gains tax. Scholarship applications are reviewed by the Foundation’s scholarship committee and upon the committee recommendations, are given final approval by the Foundation’s Board of Directors. The scholarship committee is made up of volunteers who live in Wabash County. Community Foundation staff do not approve or deny scholarship applications.
