2025 Philanthropist of the Year

The Community Foundation of Wabash County is pleased to award David Haist the 2025 Philly for Philanthropist of the Year for his exceptional commitment to charitable giving, volunteerism, leadership, and service. Through Dave's efforts, he has not only advanced numerous causes but has also inspired others to invest their time, talent, and resources for the betterment of Wabash County. 

After Dave retired from his career, he dedicated his life to philanthropy, volunteerism, community leadership, and family. Over the course of his career and beyond, he has raised hundreds of millions of dollars for several organizations, including the Honeywell Foundation, Manchester University, Manchester Symphony Orchestra, the Schwab Foundation, the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, Connor Prairie, Indiana Landmarks, the Indiana Arts Commission, Compass Rose, Arts United, Questa Educational Foundation, Wabash County YMCA, Waypoint, Honeywell Arts Academy, the Lake Maxinkuckee Environmental Fund, and the Antiquarian Historical Society.

In addition to his philanthropic achievements, he has served as a transformative leader in the healthcare industry and business community, having advised numerous companies.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, he is devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren and enjoys reading, bicycling, water sports, from boating to teaching his grandkids how to water ski and sail, and playing a good game of Uno!

Dave is the kind of philanthropist whose generosity extends far beyond his personal financial gifts. Through his leadership in the community, volunteer service, and unwavering commitment to the greater good, he has strengthened countless organizations across Wabash County and the state and inspires others to give back. His legacy is one of impact, inspiration, and a deep love for community.
