Meet the Staff

Nancy

Nancy Alspaugh, Promise Scholarship Program Director, Grades 7 & 8

Nancy Alspaugh joined the Community Foundation in August 2016 after retiring as Principal of Manchester Junior/Senior High School. At the Foundation, Nancy serves as the Promise Scholarship Program Director for Grades 7 and 8. She is responsible for managing the 7th and 8th grade sections of the Community Foundation Promise Early-Award Scholarship Program, which includes meeting with schools, teachers and administrators, students, and families. Nancy is a North Manchester native, graduating from Manchester High School. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Purdue University and her Master's Degree from University of Saint Francis. After a lengthy career in public education, Nancy is excited for her work at the Community Foundation so that she could continue to serve Wabash County youth.

 

Joanne

Joanne Case, Promise Scholarship Program Director, Grades 4 -6

Joanne Case joined the Community Foundation in August 2016. Joanne is responsible for managing the Community Foundation Promise Early Award Scholarship Program for Grades 4 through 6. Joanne is a graduate from Brigham Young University, and also holds a graduate certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language and a Transition to Teaching License. With her strong passion for education, Joanne was excited to begin working with the Promise Scholarship program at the Community Foundation so that she could partner with schools and families to further empower students to pursue lifelong learning. 

 

 Cathy

Cathy Dillon, Program Assistant  

Cathy Dillon has been working with the Community Foundation since 2001 as the Program Assistant.  She supports many areas of the Foundation, with a focus on the work of the Program Director and the Scholarship and Grant programs. Cathy was born and raised in Wabash, Indiana and is a graduate of Wabash High School.  Cathy is a member of the American Legion (Post 248) and serves as President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (Lodge #549). An avid pool player, she is co-captain on an American Poolplayers Association team, as well as a member of a North American Poolshooters Association team. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Cathy became interested in working for the Foundation because of its focus on community outreach.

 

ReilyF

Reily Frankum, Marketing and Communications Director    

Reily Frankum began working at the Community Foundation in 2014 as the Marketing and Communications Director. Her work focuses on maintaining public relations, as well as advancing and implementing the marketing strategies of the Foundation. Reily is a graduate of Northfield High School and Manchester University, where she earned degrees in Accounting and Marketing. She enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and traveling in her free time. Reily is passionate about continuing to develop the Foundation’s presence in Wabash County so as to make the biggest possible impact on the community.


 JulieG

Julie Garber, Program Director 

Julie Garber has been working with the Community Foundation since 2012 as the Program Director. Her main areas of focus are Scholarships and Grants, as well as a variety of other initiatives. Julie was born in nearby Elkhart, Indian, but has lived in North Manchester most of her life. She graduated from Manchester University, and since has graduate degrees in theology from Bethany Theology Seminary in Oak Brook, Illinois, and the University of Chicago. In her professional life, she has worked in publishing, college teaching, and community development. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, kayaking, and gardening. Twice she has walked on the Camino de Santiago in Spain, and twice she has driven from Texas to Nicaragua to work on economic development projects and health promotion in remote communities recovering from decades of conflict. Julie is excited to be working at the Foundation to create high impact programs for education and family prosperity.

 

PattyG 

Patty Grant, Executive Director 

Patty Grant has served the Community Foundation since 1989, when she joined first as a member of the board. Leveraging the influence of Lilly Endowment's six phases of the GIFT Initiative, Patty's leadership supported the Foundation's asset growth from $15,000 in 1990 to approximately $53 million today. Patty served as project director for the first Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship program and the Community Alliance to Promise Education Initiative (CAPE), a $5 million spend-down initiative to advance educational attainment. As Executive Director, Patty leads the Foundation's team in design and development of the innovative Community Foundation Early Award Scholarship Program, which utilizes Indiana's CollegeChoice529 Plan to build college going identities and assets for post-secondary education. She is a member of the board of Parkview Wabash and Grow Wabash County and a trustee of Manchester University, North Manchester. Patty holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from DePauw University, Greencastle, Indiana and an MBA from Chicago Booth School of Business of the University of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois. Patty is passionate about the Community Foundation and its capacity and flexibility to empower individuals and groups to meaningfully impact our community --- forever. 

 

TerriS

Terri Sprunger, Executive Assistant 

Terri Sprunger joined the Community Foundation in March of 2016. As the Executive Assistant, Terri is familiar with all areas of the Community Foundation's work. She provides administrative support to the Executive Director, Program Director, Board of Directors, and Committees. Terri brings a wealth of administrative experience to the foundation, ranging from the medical field, to legal and education. Her interest in the Community Foundation stems from her desire to be a part of bettering the Wabash Community. 

 

Celia

Celia Gust, Communications Intern

Celia Gust joined the Community Foundation as Communications Intern in February 2018. She originally from Columbia City, Indiana, and most recently Lake Stevens, Washington. She is a Junior at Manchester University, majoring in Marketing and Finance. After graduation, Celia plans to puruse a career in live entertainment marketing.
